As a Vietnamese, and has a passion on web development, I have taken a long time to observe and study about web services (online services) market of my country, and find out many interesting points, which I want to share in this article. Nowadays, Vietnam is a developing country, and count as an emerging market under eyes of many Internet Services firms such as Google, Yahoo or eBay. Actually, many statistical figures made this market very attractive and profitable. That ’s the reason why Yahoo, Google, eBay, PayPal and Friendster, recently have penetrate into Vietnamese market. More than that, we can’t ignore clone services of famous websites from local companies, such as Clip.vn (YouTube), Sky.vn (WordPress.com) and SBSC (Google Finance).
In this first part, we may take a look at some fabulous figures about this market.

We could see a significant increase of the internet users recently in the country, especially a developing country. About the economic statistics, Vietnam GDP will be over $USD 1000 per capita this year. According to GFK Asia Market Research Company, the total market value of computer industry in Vietnam is more than $240 million in 2006 with the total sales is 476,000 units. Also in this report, the number of sale computers is forecasted about 616,000 units in 2007. The most important thing is that all those numbers are believed will go up continously in the following years. These numbers, obviously are so beautiful in eyes of investors, businesmen and entrepreneurs. In the web business, users mean money. With the prediction that, online commericial transactions and online trading will be popular in 2010, many international firms are investing on the market to grow up the number of loyal users. However, Vietnamese Internet Users have their own characteristics and behaviours, which are totally different from other countries. We can look in to the number or survey, then classify or evaluate them easily. Many companies paid ex[ensive price for theri mistakes. This is not unique, like Google falied in Chinese market because of Baidu. In the second part, I ‘d like to discuss about our main topic, Vietnamese web consumber behaviours, and explain why they are distinguished from other markets.
