I, Unbutu

I, UnbutuRecently, I have moved all data and documents to my new upgraded desktop from my HP laptop. The reason is that day by day I need to work on graphic processing task, which require a big screen and high system requirement. And this is a great chance for me to try Ubutu. I was so interesting to play around with it for a long time, but because I can’t take a risk when I had only one machine to work.

Firstly, I have Windows XP Home on my laptop. Actually, get rid of Windows immediately is too risky. So, I try this tutorial from HowToForge to have both of them running well. I used Partition Magic 8.0 to resize the current partition from 45 GBs to 30 GBs, and let that 15GB-part for the Unbutu coming. Despite it is old, but Partition Magic finished its task very well.

Then, let ’s do this. Download a desktop version from Ubuntu website, burn it to a CD, and start installing, so easy. I just got a trouble that I can’t create a Swap partition during the installing process. Though, it did not affect the installation, however if your machine has less than 1GB Ram, be more carefully if you got the same problem.

quickplay.pngI have read and heard many beautiful words about this kind of Linux distribution. However, when I am on it, it is not just beautiful but also wonderful. Everything is configured automatically, even the QuickPlay buttons on my HP laptop. I was so surprising,  I could not imagine everything is so quickly and easy like that. Even on Windows, after installation, I still need more than half hours to set up all drivers. Sound cards, wireless and wired connection are running more than what I could expect. Ubutu also support me to import the account users from Windows. It is a magic.

I am writing this article on Unbutu, and very enjoyed. Because my HP laptop has been bought for a long time, so it is quite slow to run the latest applications nowadays. Vice versa, with Unbutu, office applications, GIMP work shop, FireFox, music player … are satisfied my needs with a very good speed.

So, if you have an old machine, and don’t want to get rid of them. My recommendation is that you should try Unbutu as soon as possible though, you shouldn’t remove Windows completely. Here are some good resources for you to start:
