Today evening, when I was having dinner with my family at a restaurant, I had a chance to hear the song Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden. I knew this song for a long long time, and nearly forget it till that moment. Coincidentally, just some days later, we will enter the Valentine holidays. The song reminded me about a beautiful and warmful love ever, a strang feeling I had at that time. If you had never listen this song, please try it.
WS_FTP Pro and Flash FXP
As a web developer, I usually work with FTP programs and I have used some popuplar one such as Flash FXP and WS_FTP Pro. So, I want to share my experience on both of two these network programs.
1. FlashFXP
This is the firts FTP program, which I used, when I as a completly new to web development. It is really easy to use, even for a dummy guy. Moreover, the operation speed is very fast, use a little system resource. FlashFXP is very suitable and useful for a beginner. It also have some advanced functions such as Synchronize, Search, BackUp & Restore,… . The feature I love the most is built-in text editor. With it, I easily edit files directly without downloading and use other text editors. Other wise, you often must use a third party program in other FTP applications (include WS_FTP). Everything seems to be very good until I need to work with SFTP/SSH access to some of my partners’ servers. Despite that FlashFXP claims it is able to support SSL however I can not connect to the server after trying many times. This really made me disappointed, because I really wish to continue to use it if I did not encounter that problem.
2. WS_FTP Pro
Then, I turned to WS_FTP Pro for my work. WS_FTP Pro has much more powerful features than FlashFXP, especially it supports SSL connection, which is important for my work. Despite that, it has not the built in editors, I still did not mind. I even uninstall FlashFXP completely because I thought that I was able to get a perfect FTP software ever. However, again, I faced the big problem when I needed to delete many directories with thousands of files inclued. You may dont believe, but it took me more 6 hours to complete the deleting task. Then, I tried other task such as moving, copying on thousands of files. WS_FTP ran very slow, compared with FlashFXP.
Till now, I am still not able to find a perfect solution for my FTP works, so I decide to install both of them on my laptop at the moment. If you know a FTP application, which is even better than WS_FTP and Flash FXP, please tell me. I will try and we could discuss
